LSEC is in the process of achieving the Unicef UK Rights Respecting Award. This award recognises an education provider's achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into practice. The award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation, and to embed young people's rights into the provider's practice and ethos.
LSEC's aim in achieving this award is to build on your engagement and awareness of your rights as a young person, model respect for young people's rights in all relationships, whether between learners, or between staff and learners, and improve the welfare support available to you at the College.
LSEC has now been awarded the Recognition of Commitment, the first stage of the Award. Work is now underway to achieve Level 1. This stage is granted by Unicef UK to show good progress towards embedding young people’s rights in the College's policy, practice and ethos, and good promotion of the knowledge and understanding of the UNCRC.
